Nine months ago, Victor Marx was virtually unknown in political circles. Outside of certain Christian nonprofit communities and niche podcast audiences, his presence was limited to viral videos showcasing his claim as the world’s fastest gun-disarmer.
Despite being a first-time candidate without the backing of well-known Republican officials, Marx has positioned himself as a significant player in the Colorado Republican gubernatorial primary. To date, he has participated in only one debate alongside his two opponents.
His extensive and unusual life story contains many striking details that, in previous political climates, might have derailed his campaign before it began. Marx, however, remains unfazed by skepticism from both media and comedians about his background. He has openly stated that whether reporters believe his story or not is irrelevant to him, and he welcomes close examination of his past.
