Trump Criticizes Stephen A. Smith and Joe Scarborough on Truth Social
President Donald Trump intensified his public criticisms of television personalities Stephen A. Smith and Joe Scarborough through posts on his Truth Social account Wednesday. Trump disparaged Smith, calling him "an arrogant fool" and labeling him as having a low IQ, while suggesting Smith is unfit for any high political office.
The exchange follows Smith's recent comments on ESPN's "First Take," where he discussed the possibility of running for president in 2028 and criticized Trump's attendance at the NBA Finals' Game 3 at Madison Square Garden. Smith described Trump's appearance as "selfish" and "narcissistic," highlighting the security challenges it posed for fans at the event.
Responding to these remarks, Trump questioned Smith's intelligence and qualifications. Smith replied by humorously suggesting Trump looked as if he was asleep during the game, drawing a parallel to Trump's own "Sleepy Joe" criticisms of President Joe Biden.
In addition to Smith, Trump also targeted MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, host of "Morning Joe." Trump called Scarborough's show "ever shrinking" in viewership and accused it of frequently presenting inaccurate information. He also claimed Scarborough suffers from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" and labeled him "a laughing stock among those who know what is going on in the 'Wonderful World of Television.'"
Trump further argued that Scarborough's persistent critiques have alienated viewers and contributed to the program's declining ratings. The post came soon after "Morning Joe" discussed an upcoming book about Trump's presidency by New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
