Bezos Called Washington Post His Worst Investment, Told Trump
In a recent book authored by New York Times journalists Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman, it's revealed that Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, confided to former President Donald Trump that acquiring the Washington Post was his worst investment. Bezos expressed frustration regarding the publication's management, noting that unlike his other business ventures, the people at the Washington Post were unresponsive to his direction.
At the time of this conversation, the newspaper was reportedly incurring losses of approximately $100 million annually. This financial strain led Bezos to make the difficult decision to lay off around 300 journalists from the publication.
